November 1st – 3rd, 2017
We’re excited to welcome the Localizing California Waters Conference back to the Sierra Nevada, and this year we especially happy to announce that the conference will be hosted at both Rush Creek Lodge and the Evergreen Lodge.
Praised by past years’ attendees, the LCW Conference is a perfect opportunity for newcomers to the water conservation scene and expert conservationists to comingle. Attendees will learn from, and share ideas with, practitioners, policy makers, and academics across all fields in the water resources community.
The LCW Conference connects attendees to the vital conversations happening in and around all water resources disciplines. Although California’s geography varies, the state of California faces similar challenges and the LCW Conference allows you to come share your experiences and learn something new from your fellow peers and experts. You can expect 3 days jammed packed with seminars, workshops and panels featuring a variety of speakers.
With limited seating at this conference please be sure to choose the registration option that’s right for you. Single day access passes start at $175.00 and the weekend access pass starts at $235.00. See all the conference pass options here. Both Rush Creek and Evergreen are extending special lodging rates to the conference attendees (see details below.)
Best of Both Worlds
With conference sessions and workshops taking place at both Rush Creek Lodge and Evergreen Lodge, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy all of the lodge’s amenities in between sessions. Lounge by the pools, indulge in a relaxing therapeutic massage, center yourself with small group yoga, and so much more as you unwind from daily meetings. And to top it all off, our friendly Recreation team is here daily to help you make the most of your time in Yosemite with plenty of trail suggestions for additional adventures.
Part of the Conversation
A lot of thought went into the planning and building of Rush Creek Lodge, one of the most crucial elements was ensuring that the new lodge wouldn’t come at a cost to its surrounding nature. Building off the success of our sister property, Evergreen Lodge, we knew that a comprehensive greywater system would help alleviate some of the water demand created by the new lodge and our guests.
So with that in mind, we partnered with Regina Hirsch and her team at Sierra Watershed Progressive to put together a series of gravity fed irrigation and reuse systems that allow us to recycle 3.8 million gallons of water annually, using zero energy to irrigate 95% of our landscape, and keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.
Learn more about how Sierra Watershed Progressive helped implement comprehensive greywater systems here at Rush Creek Lodge in last year’s LCW Conference post here.
Hands On
Finding out how to use water responsibly is the cornerstone for the Localizing California Waters Conference. Meet water experts with diverse backgrounds in stormwater, rainwater, greywater, blackwater, California Water Reuse Policies and watershed management—all integral parts in preserving this precious resource. We have been fortunate enough to have had a handful of these experts help us here at Rush Creek Lodge to implement these systems, train employees and help us inform our guests on the efforts happening on site to encourage responsible water use.
By attending this conference you’ll not only have the opportunity to learn directly from experts in the field, but you’ll have the chance to experience systems used on both properties in action. With hands on tours of the property’s systems, this is truly an occasion not to miss!
